A one-of-a-kind quilted tote inspired by the patchwork fields of the Sussex countryside.
Partridge Green began with quilted panels pieced from a collection of fabrics I brought home from New Zealand. Soft greens, chalky neutrals, pale blue and warm ochre come together in an irregular patchwork, including a rather lovely little native bird hiding amongst the leaves.
The bag is finished with distinctive woven handles that I found on my travels in Peru. Their rich geometric pattern gives the soft quilted bag structure and contrasts beautifully with the lighter fabrics.
Inside, I've kept things simple with a plain green cotton lawn lining, allowing the patchwork and woven handles to do the talking.
Spacious, lightweight and comfortable on the shoulder, Partridge Green is a generous everyday tote for shopping, books, work or days out.
Like many Brighton Stitch pieces, its materials have travelled a little before finding their final purpose: New Zealand textiles, Peruvian woven trim, brought together and made by me in Brighton.
