Baby clothes, a favourite sports shirt, a much-loved dress, family linens or other treasured fabrics can hold memories long after they are no longer being worn or used. A Brighton Stitch Memory Commission gives those textiles a new purpose, turning them into something beautiful, useful and made to last.
Each piece is individually designed and handmade in my Brighton studio using the textiles you provide. Depending on how much fabric you have and what you would like to create, your collection could become a small zipped purse, a pouch, cushion cover, tote or laptop sleeve, or a patchwork memory quilt.

How a memory commission works
Every collection of textiles is different, so we'll start with a conversation. You can send me photographs of the clothes or fabrics you have, together with an idea of what you might like them to become, there’s a form on this listing. If you're not sure, that's absolutely fine. I can suggest what would work well with the amount and type of fabric available.
We'll agree the design, approximate finished size and final price before you send your textiles to me. Once they arrive, I'll carefully select and prepare the sections to be used, retaining distinctive prints, embroidery, pockets, buttons or other details where these add to the story of the finished piece.
Unused textiles and any significant remaining pieces can be returned with your finished commission.
A note about pricing
The prices shown are starting prices. The final cost will depend on the textiles, the amount of preparation required, the complexity of the design and the finished size.
Stretch fabrics, very small garments, heavily embellished pieces or textiles requiring additional stabilising may involve more preparation. I'll always discuss this with you and confirm the price before work begins.
